A neuroma is a thickening of a nerve in the foot. This is a result of compression or irritation of the nerve itself. This can be caused by your foot structure or from wearing shoes with a narrow toe box or high heels. The symptoms of a neuroma can be tingling, burning, or numbness to one or more toes. It can also create the sensation that you are walking on a bunch up sock or bump in your shoe.
Depending on the severity of the neuroma you doctor may offer different treatment options. These range from padding, change in shoes, orthotics, medications, injections (*Steroid Aftercare Instructions*), or surgical removal of the neuroma.
