Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) Procedure
In the above procedure video, Dr. Neuhaus of Neuhaus Foot and Ankle treats a patient's Achilles tendonitis with Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy, known also as shock wave therapy or ESWT. This procedure consists of sonic waves being directed at the area of pain using a device similar to that currently used in nonsurgical treatment of kidney stones.
Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy is typically recommended for patients who suffer from chronic heel pain and have tried other conservative treatments that did not work to relieve their pain.
