Nail Avulsion Procedure
In the above procedure video, Dr. Matthew Neuhaus, a podiatrist at Neuhaus Foot and Ankle, uses nail avulsion to treat a patient's injured nail. Injuries to the toenail are a common reason for this procedure, and that happens to be the reason for the avulsion in this case. However, a patient who suffers repeated ingrown toenails may also be a candidate for an avulsion procedure. A podiatrist can remove a portion of the nail (called a partial nail avulsion) to relieve the patient's pain.
