Drainage of an Infected Toe in a Diabetic Patient
In this procedure video, Dr. Matthew Neuhaus of Neuhaus Foot and Ankle, a podiatry practice with four locations in Middle Tennessee, operates on a diabetic patient's toe in the office. The toe had become seriously infected, but fortunately was caught in time and after this procedure was performed and the infection drained, the patient recovered well. However, this does not happen in every case. Diabetic patients often don't realize they've developed an infection due to lack of feeling in the feet or toes caused by diabetic neuropathy. And when an infection progresses without treatment and becomes serious, there can be terrible consequences, including amputation or even death.
