Achilles Tendinitis is one of the most common running injuries because Achilles Tendinitis is usually caused by a sudden increase of repetitive activity involving the Achilles tendon. This type of activity puts major stress on the tendon, leading to an injury of the tendon. Continual stress on the tendon, like running or training for a race, prevents the body from repairing the injured tissue. Ultimately, the tendon structure is altered causing continual pain. Athletes are not the only individuals that are at high risk for developing this disorder.

Dr. Jason Knox discusses more information about this  common running injuries and why most runners end up with this diagnosis. Achilles Tendinitis is something that should be properly treated and not ignored, especially if you are a runner or training for some kind of athletic event, because this could cause further injury to your Achilles tendon and may even require surgery. Visit our Achilles Tendinitis page to learn more information about this condition or visit our common sports injuries section to learn about other problems that may arise.

An ankle sprain is an injury to the ligament(s) in your ankle. Ligaments are like rubber bands that connect your bones to one another and bind your joints together. In your ankle joint, the ligaments provide stability. Sprained ankles often result from a fall, a sudden twist, or a blow that forces the ankle joint out of its normal position. Ankle sprains commonly occur while participating in sports, wearing inappropriate shoes, or walking or running on an uneven surface. If you are experiencing pain or soreness, bruising, swelling, difficulty walking, and/or stiffness in joints of your ankle, you should visit your local podiatrist.

In the video, Dr. Neuhaus further explains the symptoms of ankle sprains as well as an effective way to evaluate and treat an ankle sprain. Treating an ankle sprain properly and aggressively will help prevent the ankle from causing any future issues with the joint. To learn more about an ankle sprain, please visit our website at www.neufoot.com. If we can be of any assistance with you to help treat an ankle sprain, please call our office at (615) 220-8788. Neuhaus Foot & Ankle is just outside of Nashville, TN in Smyrna and Brentwood.

The most common complaint Neuhaus Foot and Ankle hears from patients is that their feet hurt when they first wake up in the morning. This tends to be followed by, "This usually goes away as the day continues so this is why I have put coming to you for my foot pain." Because this is so common, I feel that it is important to educate you on the possible conditions this pain could be from. Some of the reasons include Plantar Fasciitis, Achilles Tendonitis, and tight ligaments. Ultimately, foot pain is not normal and you should never think that foot pain is normal. If you have any type of consistent foot pain, you should visit your local Podiatrist.

In the following video, Dr. Matthew Neuhaus gives many reasons why your feet could hurt when you wake up in the morning. We are located in the Nashville, TN area in Smyrna and Brentwood. If you have any questions or would like to make an appointment with us, call us at (615) 220-8788 or visit our website at www.neufoot.com.

Don't you just love the new cover?! We've added the most recent Neuhaus family photo of their feet to the top of the front cover!

We've edited our Foot Health 101 book to make sure the information in the book remains up-to-date with today's technology and new procedure techniques to keep your feet healthy and happy! Both Dr. Neuhaus and Dr. Knox have put many hours into making this book free for the community because at Neuhaus Foot & Ankle, we feel that all patients should be educated in foot health and possible problems that can happen to your feet and ankles. Too many people suffer from foot and ankle pain, thinking that this is normal when in fact foot pain is NOT normal.
