Our Heel Rest sold in our office is made with a Air-O tech fabric liner than allows a layer of air to flow freely around the calf, ankle, and foot to keep the skin surface cool and dry. The fabric liner also provides a soft cushion layer to further enhance circulation to the foot and reduce the possibility of new ulcers occurring. The heel rest calf pad fits the lower leg to reduce pressure points at the skin surface. PowerStep (Full-Length & 3/4 Length)

Developed by a Podiatrist, This simple, over-the-counter orthotic has been around for years.  And at a great value!  Powersteps can easily be moved from shoe to shoe as needed.  Though it doesn’t work for everyone, it fits most feet.  Whether it is a foot with a high or a low arch, this is a good device.  It works well for conditions such as Plantar Fasciitis, Neuromas and generalized foot pain.  Powerstep is the brand I recommend my patients start with when it comes to a low cost, shoe insert.  It will often be the only orthotic device you will ever need.  If this device does not fit, you will more than likely need to visit a podiatrist for a custom orthotic.

Revitaderm is a moisturizing cream formulated to rehydrate extremely dry skin.  A water-free formula, it contains aloe vera, tea tree oil and coconut oil. The Strassburg Sock

The Strassburg Sock is a lightweight night splint that is easily adjustable with the attached velcro strap.  This is a great product for mild plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendonitis!  Dr. Neuhaus and Dr. Knox recommend this device for patients who know they cannot sleep with a more bulky, plastic-type night splint.  It is very comfortable because it is basically a sock.  I occasionally hear of pain in the toes as a result of the velcro strap being pulled tightly, but I find the pain is resolved if the strap is loosened.  You do not need to have the strap as tight as you can get it.  The Strassburg Sock simply needs to be tight enough to hold the foot near 90 degrees to the leg.

Tineacide Antifungal Cream

An athletes foot cream and nail fungus treatment that works!  It is import to remember that with athlete’s foot, you need to apply the cream over the entire infected area.  For toenail fungus, it works well if the fungus looks white and flaky.  If you have thick, yellow, painful nails, this is probably not going to eliminate your problem.  For severe nail fungus, I recommend a trip to the Podiatrist to discuss other, stronger, options.  Remember to use it every day for 6-12 months for nail fungus.  You will usually not see a change in the first 3 months and it will not be until the toenail grows out that you start seeing improvement.  For athlete's foot, you should see improvement in 10 days and should have clear skin in 14-21 days.  Be sure to continue to use the cream for a month to ensure the infection is cleared.  Recurrence is always possible with toenail and/or foot fungus.
