Vince Neil of the Motley Crue Fractures Foot, but Continues Tour
Vince Neil will be continuing his tour with Motley Crue despite two fractured bones in his foot. The fractures occurred in a fall, as many fractures do, just as he finished the finale of a performance. Now the rocker will be performing in a foot and ankle cast to protect his fractured foot and will be using crutches to get around. Neil plans to continue his performances, though there will obviously have to be some changes to accommodate his injury.
“The show must go on,” Neil is quoted as saying in Las Vegas Weekly.
There are two types of foot fractures: general bone fractures and stress fractures. Neil’s fractures resulted from trauma from a fall and are general bone fractures. Stress fractures differ from general bone fractures because stress fractures are like tiny cracks in the bone surface while general bone fractures extend through the bone. Common symptoms of foot fractures include: swelling, pain and sometimes bruising. Sometimes the skin will even be broken and the bone will come through. This is called an open fracture. It is called a closed fracture if the bone doesn’t break through the skin. Fractures most often are caused by trauma. For example, dropping a heavy object on your foot or trauma from falling and twisting your foot.
Neil continued to travel on the tour bus to Toronto after his injury but saw a doctor there and got x-rays, which showed the breaks. It is very important to see a doctor like Neil did if you suspect you have an ankle or foot fracture. The sooner you see a doctor, the sooner you can start rehabilitating and get on the road to recovery.
