An ankle sprain is an injury to the ligament(s) in your ankle. Ligaments are like rubber bands that connect your bones to one another and bind your joints together. In your ankle joint, the ligaments provide stability. Sprained ankles often result from a fall, a sudden twist, or a blow that forces the ankle joint out of its normal position. Ankle sprains commonly occur while participating in sports, wearing inappropriate shoes, or walking or running on an uneven surface. If you are experiencing pain or soreness, bruising, swelling, difficulty walking, and/or stiffness in joints of your ankle, you should visit your local podiatrist.

In the video, Dr. Neuhaus further explains the symptoms of ankle sprains as well as an effective way to evaluate and treat an ankle sprain. Treating an ankle sprain properly and aggressively will help prevent the ankle from causing any future issues with the joint. To learn more about an ankle sprain, please visit our website at www.neufoot.com. If we can be of any assistance with you to help treat an ankle sprain, please call our office at (615) 220-8788. Neuhaus Foot & Ankle is just outside of Nashville, TN in Smyrna and Brentwood.

The most common complaint Neuhaus Foot and Ankle hears from patients is that their feet hurt when they first wake up in the morning. This tends to be followed by, "This usually goes away as the day continues so this is why I have put coming to you for my foot pain." Because this is so common, I feel that it is important to educate you on the possible conditions this pain could be from. Some of the reasons include Plantar Fasciitis, Achilles Tendonitis, and tight ligaments. Ultimately, foot pain is not normal and you should never think that foot pain is normal. If you have any type of consistent foot pain, you should visit your local Podiatrist.

In the following video, Dr. Matthew Neuhaus gives many reasons why your feet could hurt when you wake up in the morning. We are located in the Nashville, TN area in Smyrna and Brentwood. If you have any questions or would like to make an appointment with us, call us at (615) 220-8788 or visit our website at www.neufoot.com.

Dr. Neuhaus discusses what a cortisone injection is and what the injection is used to treat in patients who have foot and ankle problems. Dr. Neuhaus also discusses the side effects that may come from getting a cortisone injection. If used correctly, cortisone injections can help treat the inflammation of the foot and ankle. Neuhaus Foot and Ankle is currently accepting new patients for both Dr. Neuhaus and Dr. Knox in Smyrna and Brentwood offices in Middle Tennessee outside the Nashville area. To make an appointment, call our office at (615)22-8788 or visit us on the web.

Haglund's Deformity, or the "pump bump", is a bony enlargement on the back of the heel that is most commonly diagnosed in young women who wear pumps or heels. The "pump bump" is called this because of the pressure from the rigid backs of the heels aggravates the enlargement when walking  This type of deformity that most often leads to painful bursitis, which is an inflammation of the bursa (a fluid-filled sac between the tendon and bone). In Haglund's deformity, the soft tissue near the Achilles tendon becomes irritated when the bony enlargement rubs against shoes.

Dr. Matthew Neuhaus explains the various causes and treatment options for the bump on the back of your heel for Haglund's Deformity. Dr Neuhaus and Dr Knox of Neuhaus Foot & Ankle have two offices outside the Nashville, TN area in Smyrna, TN and Brentwood, TN. If you think you may have Haglund's Deformity or if you have any questions, feel free to call our office at (615) 220-8788 or visit our Haglund's Deformity webpage devoted to this condition.
