Steeplechaser Genevieve LaCaze Sustains Ankle Injury in Fall
Genevieve LaCaze appeared to be in top shape coming into the Birmingham Diamond League meet in England. Things were looking great for her and everyone had high hopes for her in the IAAF World Championships in Moscow next month. Now those hopes may be dashed.
There were only two laps remaining in the 3000m steeplechase on Monday when LaCaze crashed at a water jump and injured her ankle.
LaCaze was taken to the hospital and treated, but there is no word yet on how severe the ankle injury LaCaze sustained is.
If it is only a minor ankle injury, she may still be able to compete in the Moscow World Championships. We should know soon.
We will keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best and a quick recovery for LaCaze.
