Happy Independence Day!
We hope you have a wonderful and safe Independence Day! We would like to share a few tips with you today to help you keep your feet pain-free and healthy while you are out in the sun celebrating.
1. Remember to put sunscreen on. Yes, your feet need sunscreen, too! This is something many people forget. If you're at the pool or wearing sandals or flip-flops, your feet can easily burn just like the rest of your body. Remember to protect them!
2. Try to avoid going barefoot around pools or outside. Puncture wounds occur frequently in the summer months because people are either walking about barefoot or wearing flimsy flip-flops that are easily punctured. Be cautious about where you walk and follow those rules most pools have posted about no glass in the pool area. It's a rule for a reason!
3. Sweaty feet can cause fungus to develop. If you're out in the heat or exercising this summer and you are having problems with sweaty feet, try changing your shoes and socks. Go for shoes and socks that will allow your feet to breathe (try not to wear shoes made of rubber or any other material that will trap heat). Also, wear 100% cotton socks, and wash your feet, shoes and socks regularly. You can even use an anti-fungal foot powder or spray to help prevent the development of fungus.
