Should I See A Doctor for Toenail Fungus?

Comments (0)

Toenail fungus is a common nail problem. Some people don’t realize they have a problem with their nails, and some nail fungus sufferers just assume the problem is normal and try to live with it.

It is not normal for your toenails to be discolored, become loose or brittle, or to have crumbling of the nail. If you are experiencing those symptoms, you are probably suffering from toenail fungus.

If you do have toenail fungus, it is important that it be treated appropriately. There are over-the-counter treatment options available, which are generally liquid anti-fungal medications, but over-the-counter treatments may not be enough. You may need to see a podiatrist for further treatment. Toenail fungus should not be left untreated. A fungus can get worse, spread, and present serious problems.

Your podiatrist may recommend an oral or topical medication and may remove the diseased portion of the nail or at least the debris.

There is also a great new treatment option available for toenail fungus: laser treatment. We have been using the laser treatment in our office for over a year now and we have had a great response.

If you believe you are suffering from toenail fungus and would like to set up an appointment with our office, you can contact us at 615-220-8788 or at our toll-free number 888-713-0906. You can also request an appointment online.
