Preventing Blisters On The Feet
Blisters on the feet can be painful and can make walking difficult. Most blisters on the feet are caused by friction, usually friction caused by ill-fitting or new shoes.
At some point, we have probably all suffered from a blister caused by new shoes.
Here are some things you can do to help prevent blisters from occurring on your feet:
- Break in new shoes gradually. Don’t just put them on as soon as you buy them and wear them all day.
- If your shoes are rubbing uncomfortably on your feet but a blister has not occurred yet, you can put petroleum jelly or an adhesive bandage on the area that is rubbing to prevent a blister from forming there.
- Wear socks that have heels on them. Avoid wearing tube socks. They can bunch up and cause blisters.
- Follow the basic foot care guidelines. Wash your feet daily and dry them thoroughly to help prevent bacterial infections.
If you are suffering from blisters on your feet, you may also want to think about changing shoes and selecting shoes with a better fit. The fit and comfort of your shoes is very important to your foot health.
