Possible Treatment Options for Plantar Warts

Home remedies and over-the-counter treatments for warts are often unsuccessful in getting rid of the wart for good and some of them can even be dangerous for your health.

If you are suffering from plantar wart, the best and fastest way to get rid of it is to see a podiatrist.

A podiatrist can offer you several different treatment options for plantar warts, such as:

  • Topical or oral treatments
  • Laser therapy
  • Cryotherapy (freezing)
  • Surgery

Warts can be resistant to treatment at times. If your plantar wart refuses to respond to any treatments at all, further testing, such as a biopsy, may be needed.

Of course, it is easiest to avoid getting plantar warts in the first place. You can help to do this by wearing shower shoes or flip-flops in public showers and locker rooms and around public pool areas.

If you notice any irregularities on your feet or on children’s feet, see a podiatrist.
