Fall Foot Tips

Cooler weather is moving in, which means shoe choices change and so does the focus of foot care. Most people put more emphasis on keeping their feet soft and callus free during the summer since sandals are generally the preferred shoe choice. Cooler weather brings on dryer skin overall. Although fall signals the start of boot season, make sure to keep treating your feet with the same care you did in the spring and summer.

Here are some tips to keep your feet from getting dry and cracked during the cooler weather.

1. Soak your feet in warm water and gently use a pumice stone to help remove dead skin cells.

2. Use a moisturizing agent to keep your feet soft. If your feet are extremely dry and cracked, you may need to see a podiatrist to make sure there are no other problems. Revitaderm is a great cream we offer over the counter in our offices.

3. Wear socks whenever it is cool out to keep your feet from getting too cold.

As always, if you need to see a podiatrist, we would love to help you.
