How Wearing Pantyhose Can Affect Your Foot Health

Many women aren’t aware that the pantyhose they are putting on every morning can affect their foot health.

Nylon stockings do not breathe. The heat the stockings generate and trap can lead to excessive perspiration. Fungal infections, such as Athlete’s foot, flourish in such warm, damp environments.

Nylon stockings can cause other problems as well. Nylon stockings that do not allow a normal expansion of the foot when walking may pull the toes back when the pantyhose ride up. That cramping and pressure on the feet and toes can contribute to foot and toe problems, such as ingrown toenails and hammertoes.

If you do wear pantyhose, here are some tips to keep your feet from being affected:

  • Be sure that they fit properly. Don’t wear pantyhose that cramp the toes or foot.
  • Limit the time that you wear pantyhose.
  • Wash them after every use. They need the same care as socks.

I always wear my tights either Nude or Barely Black as I love the feel and look even though they make my feet very sweaty after a days wear in the office with heels. Usually, I kick my heels off under the desk to air them out and do a lot of shoeplay on the train home. Christine UK
