Giving Shoes as Gifts this Holiday Season?

Will you be shopping for shoes for family members or friends this holiday season? That can be hard to do. When shoe shopping, it is important that you get a good fit, which can be difficult if you don’t try the shoes on first. And that’s impossible if it’s a surprise!

So, here are a few tips for when you are shoe shopping for other people:

  • Make sure you have the correct shoe size of the recipient. Don’t just guess! If you’re sneaking a look at a pair of their shoes to find out, try to pick shoes that are similar to the ones you plan to buy. Some people wear slightly different sizes in different types or styles of shoes.
  • Try the shoes you are going to buy as a gift on yourself, but in your own size, of course. Some shoes are just uncomfortable, whether they fit you or not, and you don’t want to buy uncomfortable shoes for someone you love.
  • Be sure to keep the receipt and include it with your gift! Ask the store about their return policy and make sure the person who receives the gift has everything they need to return it. If the shoes are uncomfortable or don’t fit properly, the recipient may want to return them for another size or another pair of shoes altogether.

We don’t really recommend buying shoes for others because it is so important to try them on first, but if you are sure to take precautions for returning or exchanging the shoes, it is perfectly fine.
