Shoe choice matters
When the new year rolls in, new resolutions and goals are set. Most people generally have some form of getting healthy as one of their top goals for the year. If this is you, fantastic! However, it's very important that proper shoes are worn while getting in shape. Wearing tennis shoes that are old and worn or do not fit your foot type can make getting in shape a dreadful process that leads to giving up too soon.
Each person has a different foot type, whether it is with a high arch or flat foot. Choosing shoes to fit these needs is the best way to avoid injury and discomfort. Wearing improper shoes can lead to shin splints, plantar fasciitis, or general foot pain.
If you are running, the following are a few good shoe brands to keep an eye out for:
- New Balance
Each shoe type depends on the person's actual arch or how they stand. You can always stop by a running shoe store, such as Fleet Feet, to be fitted for the most appropriate shoe for you. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please call our office at (615)220-8788.
