Exercise in the Autumn

Comments (0)

We are already feeling that fall weather in Middle Tennessee, and it is a great time for outdoor pursuits!

We all know that exercise is crucial to our health, and this is the perfect time to get out there in the sun and fresh air and get some exercise for our feet and legs! Staying in shape and exercising regularly can help us to avoid injuries and other problems with our feet and general health, as long as exercise is done safely and in moderation.

Outdoor walking and hiking are great activities for maintaining body weight, improving blood pressure, mental health, and more. Biking is another great option for improving health while enjoying the outdoors. Or pick up an outdoor sport, like soccer, kickball, or baseball. You don't have to be a pro! There are many local groups and teams in most areas that get together to play just for fun.

If you are changing an exercise routine, it's a good idea to visit your doctor first for an exam. Your doctor can evaluate the shape you are in and give you recommendations for an exercise regime and a good diet.

Remember, no matter what activity you choose, you need to start slowly and build up. Don't push yourself too hard at first, and pay attention to what your body is telling you. Also, choose a great pair of shoes for whatever activity you're pursuing. We have pages on our website specifically talking about choosing baseball shoes, basketball shoes, or golf shoes, for example.

If you need a foot or ankle exam, or if you would like to talk to us about your foot and ankle health or schedule an appointment, call us at (615) 220-8788 or contact us online.
