Denver Nuggets’ Kenneth Faried Sprained Ankle, Will Miss Out On Regular Season Finale
Kenneth Faried, the Denver Nuggets top rebounder, sprained his ankle Sunday during a game against the Portland Trailblazers.
The injury occurred when Faried stepped on another player’s foot while going for a lay-up.
The ankle sprain was severe enough that Faried had to be helped off the court by teammates and, apparently, Faried feared the injury was much was worse than it actually turned out to be because of the severe pain.
X-rays and an MRI showed that it was not an ankle fracture, but a sprain of the anterior talofibular ligament.
Faried will sit out the regular season finale game, but hopes the ankle will be healed in time for playoffs.
It is important to take time off and allow ankle sprains, a common sports injury, to heal and rehabilitate properly. Ankle sprains that are not rehabilitated properly or ankle sprains that are untreated can result in chronic ankle instability.
