Buying Shoes as Gifts
If you are out shoe shopping this Christmas and decide to buy footwear as a gift for a friend or loved one, you might want to keep these tips in mind:
1. Make sure the shoes can be exchanged or returned. It is difficult to buy clothing and footwear for other people. Even if you know their size, the shoe may run a bit big or a bit small, or might be too tight. Think of all the times you've tried on shoes in your size that are just uncomfortable! And it will not work the same for everyone because we all have different foot shapes. Even if you try the same shoes on in your size, they may not fit the same for the gift recipient. It will make it easier on everyone if the gift can be exchanged or returned if it doesn't work out!
2. Avoid buying painfully tall high heels or other shoes that are hard on the feet as gifts. The receiver may feel obliged to wear them out with you or at family events, and you don't want your friend or loved one suffering because of your gift! Choose something comfortable instead. There are plenty of fashionable shoes out there that still offer comfort!
3. Have a family member who loves footwear, but you're not sure what to get? Maybe try some soft slippers or socks for wear around the house! If they are boot wearers, look at boot socks. Or give something different like a cute pair of rainboots! There are so many types of footwear out there, it's astounding, and you really can find something for everyone!
We wish you happy shopping this holiday season, and we hope you have a very merry Christmas as well! For more information on foot and ankle problems or suggestions, contact us online or call us at (615) 220-8788.
