Brian Cashman, New York Yankees General Manager, Fractures Ankle While Skydiving
New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman fractured his right ankle Monday while skydiving with the Golden Knights of the U.S. Army.
The injury occurred at Homestead Airforce Base in Florida when Cashman’s foot caught on the ground when he landed after his second jump.
The jump was made to help raise awareness for the Wounded Warriors Project.
Ankle fractures are a common injury and are sometimes mistaken for ankle sprains.
Symptoms of a broken ankle include:
- Severe and immediate pain.
- Tenderness to the touch.
- Inability to put weight on the injured foot.
- Deformity, particularly if there is a dislocation or fracture.
Treatments for an ankle fracture depend on the severity of the injury. If you suffer an ankle sprain you should follow the R.I.C.E. method, which includes rest, ice, compression, and elevation.
